The most expensive TV in the world!!

Tv with Diamonds!

On display for the first time at the recent IFA show in Germany and also in New York earlier this month at an exhibition promoting Italian craftsmanship was the yalos diamond, a EUR 100,000 (US$130,000 in round figures) television set by Neapolitan (from Naples) Keymat Industrie s.p.a.

The 40 inch LCD TV has provision for 1080i and 720p high definition picture formats and is as technologically sound as is humanly possible with a picture contrast ratio of 1200:1. The really expensive bit is the workmanship, the design and the fact it’s plated in white gold and studded with 160 diamonds (4 gm) of diamonds. Source - gizmag.com

io-Jacket

Revolutionary Jacket!

Although all modern gadgets have the goal to combine good-looks with multifunctional technology and effectiveness, this is so much better then the others! Why? Because you can actually wear it! It has all the cool stuff in it like a Bluetooth and built-in MP3 player or touch sensitive control pads. But the ability through which its promoted is its compatibility with GPSoverIP.

It uses a hybrid GPS technology which enables you to look for the person wearing the jacket even inside a building. The person who wears the io-Jacket can upload the information to a mobile phone or to the internet giving the watcher (probably a deranged parent) the opportunity of observing his/her every move.

Londefrey, the company which produces it has sold one for humanitarian causes carrying out an auction in the purpose of saving money for the “Humans for Humans” foundation. It seems though that none other have been made for commercial purposes so we just have to sit and wait. (Source: latestgadgets.info)

New Gadget to Help Count Calories

BodyBugg:

Forget just feeling the burn. Some people tired of the treadmill and frustrated with food diaries are turning to pricey gadgets that can help them see the burn.

The Bodybugg, the latest gadget, uses a different method. It has sensors that measure skin temperature, its electrical conductivity and how much heat someone's body is producing and losing. (It doesn't have a heart monitor, but the manufacturer, BodyMedia, is working on a way to measure heart rate through the upper arm).

All the energy used by the human body is eventually turned into heat; the more heat the body produces, the harder it's working. Sweat, like water, conducts electricity, so the more electricity the skin conducts, the more someone is sweating.

At $300 to $500, the Bodybugg is to heart monitoring gadgets what the iPod is to MP3 players. And you can only through gyms with agreements with Camarillo, Calif.-based Apex Fitness Group. Apex unveiled the arm band at more than 1,000 gyms nationwide, including Gold's Gym and World Gym, on Monday and plans to sell the Bodybugg outside gyms soon. Source - thecardioblog.com

Phillips and Swarovski, jeweled gadgets

Mp3 Players are now in the disguise of jewels:

Swarovski crystals are everywhere. You can find them in an unaccountable number of products, from watches to clothes. Phillips got this trend and now you can also find them in a line of jeweled gadgets, named Active Crystals. To begin with, there are four models of thumb drives with the crystals and two models of ear phones.

Heart Ware and Heart Beat are USB thumb drivers designed to be used as pendants, Lock In and Lock Out are designed to be used in key chains (or even in a bracelet), they come in 1Gb models and are user password protected.

The line also has silver ear phones, both in-ear and ear-hook models.

Rinspeed sQuba Concept Car

Rinspeed sQuba Concept Car features dive and drive:

Mover Q your amphibious car designs are redundant, maybe they were good enough for the previous spies but the next-gen demands a more synced-up version. In case you need to take pointers, make sure you are there at the Geneva Motor Show (March 6th thru 16th, 2008), where Swiss design company Rinspeed will showcase their sQuba Concept Car.

The makers claim that it is the world's first real diving car. And if its aquatic feats were not enough, the car can (at the push of a button) drive autonomously. It can dive to the depth of up to 10 meters (33 feet). The "sQuba" fulfills Rinspeed's boss Frank M. Rinderknecht long cherished dream of creating something that marries fictitious movie concepts to reality.

Thus taking inspiration from "The spy who loved me", sQuba features an electric motor with powerful torque that drives the rear wheels. The thrust on the water is ensured by two propellers in the stern and two powerful jet drives in the bow propel the vehicle under water while diving. The car promises zero emissions thus zero pollution to the water. The light weight body with components made of futuristic Carbon Nano Tubes encloses in a streamlined manner the driver and passenger who are supplied with fresh breathing air by the self-contained on-board system.

Rinspeed sQuba is a one off car. No commercial production is planned.

Amazing Keyboard!!

Optimus Tactus Touch Keyboard

While we love touch surfaces, as people who type hundreds of thousands a word each week we know that there is a limit to them: keyboards. Like this Optimus Tactus, an extruded shape/touch surface/keyboard concept by Art Lebedev. We really like the soon-to-be-released Optimus keyboard Art but, seriously, how often do you type on your computer?

I can imagine that artists, musicians and video editors would like something like this. However, there are solid LCD tablet displays and Tablet PCs on the market already. Experience shows that, for the time being, it's a limited market. Further limiting it to a keyboard replacement could be economically impractical at best, never mind how practical this could be.

The issue of the price is the other key here: by the time a touch surface keyboard could be a commercial reality coming from China via Moscow, touch computing from Apple and Microsoft would be so ubiquitous that it won't make sense anymore.

Its about iPod Shuffle!!

Arriva's iPod Shuffle headphones

January 2, 2008 While Bluetooth headphones are the hot item for those seeking the convenience of a wireless solution for personal audio players, Arriva have developed a cost-effective, low-tech system for iPod Shuffle users that effectively produce the same result. Using a soft spring design, the Arriva's "wireless" iPod Shuffle stereo headphones support the Shuffle and hold it in place at the back of the head forming a self contained unit and eliminating the need to run wires into a backpack or elsewhere on the body.

The headset comes in two different styles - "regular" and "extreme active wear" for use when running or undertaking other sporting activities. Designed to mould to the user's head shape so as not to interfere with glasses or goggles, the system can be worn with a helmet or hat and two types of earbuds are available - iPod or in-ear type. When not in use the headphones can be compacted and stored in the pouch provided.

The Arriva "wireless" iPod Shuffle stereo headphones are available through the company's website for USD$39.95 plus shipping costs.

3D Display - Awesome!!

Phillips intros 20-inch 3D display

Don't count Philips as the first outfit to dream up a 3D display that allowed you to leave the eyewear at home, but it looks like the technology is coming ever closer to the mainstream -- for better or worse. The firm has reportedly developed a 20-inch LCD "designed to increase brand awareness and attention value of products at point-of-sale locations," and is showing off the (literally) eye-popping effects at this week's InfoComm. Of course, this rendition seems to be aimed at businesses rather than consumer applications, but we'd expect to see more where this came from as the WOWvx-equipped lineup expands.

The newest duo consists of a frame-mountable 20-3D2W01 (pictured above) and a more decorated 20-3D2W04 if you're wanting a bezel and stand. As expected, there's no word yet on pricing or availability, but feel free to peep another shot of the third-dimension after the break. (source : engadgetdotcom)

Solar Jacket Charges Gadgets!!!

Italian fashion company debuts a jacket that uses solar power to charge mobile phones and other devices.

Heavy users of mobile phones, iPods and other portable devices may want to try on a new coat lined with solar modules and a battery to charge their gadgets on the fly.

At a fashion show in Florence on June 24, 2007, Italian fashion company Ermenegildo Zegna Holditalia SpA (Zegna) showed off Solar JKT, an outdoor jacket lined with integrated wearable electronics developed by Germany's Interactive Wear AG and Innovative Solarprodukte GmbH (Solarc).

Zegna aims to ship the Solar JKT coat in the second quarter of 2008. Pricing information was not available.

Two solar modules in the coat's collar convert the solar energy into electricity. The electricity is routed by conductive textile cables to a buffer battery, which can be used to charge a device directly or store the power until needed.

The silicon-based polycrystalline solar module measures 9 centimeters by 5.5 centimeters and can generate up to 1 watt of power by full sunlight.

The battery measures 70 millimeters by 60 millimeters by 13 millimeters and weighs around 100 grams. It requires four to eight hours to load and, when full, can charge a mobile phone or iPod in less than four hours. A 5-volt connection is available for USB (Universal Serial Bus) devices and a 6-volt connection for mobile phones.

Interactive wear was founded in 2005 following a management buyout of the Wearable Technology Solutions business unit owned by German chip maker Infineon Technologies AG.

Solarc consists of a small team of engineers in Berlin who work closely with the Hahn-Meitner-Institute and the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration.
